I have been preparing over the last several weeks for something that will hopefully become a life-changing experience. When I first thought about doing a 30-day challenge to declutter and organize my home, I had no idea it would lead to all that I have learned before I even moved a single thing out of my house.
I am joining a few of my fellow Virginia Bloggers this month for a 30-day Peaceful Home Challenge, to free ourselves from unnecessary clutter and to get our homes into a peaceful state by getting organized, and hopefully, making it a lifestyle. The preparation has been a journey as I have learned of the health benefits, both mentally and physically, of removing clutter and getting organized.
In my last post, I reviewed the book, Organizing For Your Lifestyle. I took the short quiz inside the book and after writing the review, I had to take a closer look at myself and realize that I could be spending more time getting organized and prepared for things so I don’t have to spend so much time later picking up the pieces or stressing over trying to pull it together. I hope clearing all this clutter in the house will give me the motivation I need to stay on track.
If you have a hard time staying organized like I do, I would recommend the book, Organizing For Your Lifestyle by Jane Stoller and starting a Pinterest board with motivational quotes and ideas on how to minimize the clutter and have a peaceful home. You may also want to start following blogs/websites that are focused on this lifestyle! I feel that having visuals such as Pinterest or a subscription to blogs that will deliver notifications right to your email would keep you motivated.
So, on to the challenge! I have created several graphics for each part of the challenge and they are here for your reference anytime you are ready to to take it on as well. I chose the month of September for the challenge because it’s just after our kids have gone back to school and I’ll have the house ready for the holidays, just before all the guests arrive!
I am excited to get this started and a little nervous at the same time, as I am not very organized, but I have to let go! I have to get rid of things I don’t need anymore. I have to look at something and ask if it benefits me in any way by holding on to it. Not only do I need to declutter my home, I need to declutter my mind, and stop hanging on to things that no longer serve a purpose.
