I am so honored to grace my blog today with this amazing master bedroom makeover from Sue at A Purdy Little House. As soon as I laid eyes on this makeover I wondered why it wasn’t all over the internet. It’s hard to believe it’s the same room once you see the way it looked before!
Take a look at the pictures she took during the walk through before she and her husband purchased the house…
I don’t want to sound too harsh, but the two words that come to mind when I see this room are Mauve and Maybelline. I’m just not a fan of that dark carpet and the wall paint…this entire color scheme just makes me think about shades of makeup. We had a living room with a similar wall color once and I was so happy to cover it up as soon as I could.
Sue wasn’t a fan either…especially of that carpet color. The room was dark already and to make it worse, the previous owners hid the window away. I can see why Sue didn’t have much hope for this room in the beginning.
Well, there is hope and there is light!
She certainly transformed this space, didn’t she? I love how bright the room is and all the lovely details and decor she added throughout the room. The new hardwood floor. the wainscoting, and the beautiful blue wall color made a HUGE difference, which is why it doesn’t even look the same. Now that you can see the light from the window and the addition of the floor-length curtains just makes the room look much larger and open.
I really like the decorative wall behind the headboard that was complete with a lovely damask pattern wallpaper and outlined with trim. Although it’s a subtle pattern, it really stands out against the blue wall color…and she purchased that wallpaper roll for $1.50!
If Sue is anything like me, then adding the decorative touches after all that hard work is always the fun part of a makeover. The black and white pattern chairs, the large mirror, and the adorable accent of the dress form stand are all so eye-catching. Her goal was to create a Parisian inspired space and she certainly achieved that goal. It is such a beautiful, romantic master bedroom now…and that mantle with the candles certainly adds to the romantic feel of the room.
