Going through the process of a complete bathroom renovation recently was a quite a job with so many decisions to make. Though the bulk of the work was completed by contractors, we did do a few DIY projects ourselves to cut costs and this was the first time I had ever designed an entire room, start to finish.
One part of the project was not a difficult decision for me, and that was the flooring! I was drawn to the Allure vinyl plank flooring at Home Depot while shopping for the bathroom materials. I really like how far vinyl flooring has come and the Allure interlocking vinyl plank flooring looked like a strong, durable floor that is 100% waterproof, preventing warping, mold, and mildew. Just what I needed in a bathroom we were renovating all because of water and mold damage!
Not only was the flooring affordable, I also loved the color Stratford Oak , because of it’s pretty gray color. I love gray and it goes perfect in our bathroom along with the light gray grout in the subway tile. Plus, it has the natural look of a real wood floor!
Isn’t it pretty?
I recently sat down with Allure Flooring to do an interview on Skype to talk about my experience with our new floor. It was a fun experience and I had nothing but great things to say about it. One part of the interview that was hard for me to admit, was that I did not install the floor my self (insert embarrassed emoji, here). That’s right…I chickened out and had the contractor install it instead because that little circle in the floor where the sewer pipe is, made me nervous that I wouldn’t do a good job cutting around it. Once I saw our contractor installing the floor though, I regretted that I didn’t do the installation myself…it looked so easy!
Before moving on to the complete project success story on YouTube, I do have one more update to share with you on this floor from an experience I’ve had since the video was made. A few weeks ago, I accidentally left the shower curtain outside of the tub. The next morning, after one of our kids took a shower, we realized it was left outside the tub and there was water all over our bathroom floor. As my husband began cleaning the water on the bathroom floor, I immediately ran downstairs to the basement because any time water ran onto the bathroom floor we had before (which only happened a few times), it always leaked into the laundry room that is just below the bathroom. I was pleasantly surprised to find that not a drop of water had leaked into the basement…this is the first time that had happened and I give all the credit to the Allure flooring for that. We didn’t do anything else to prepare the sub-floor before installing the Allure vinyl planks, and none of the sub-flooring beneath it was wet either (I can clearly see it from the basement). That was a nice surprise!
Here is my complete video on my experience with Allure Flooring. So, it’s the first video I have made as a blogger and I really enjoyed the experience- although you can probably tell it was my first time doing this. 🙂
Thanks so much to Allure Flooring for preparing this interview and video…and for the awesome flooring in our bathroom. We are so happy with it.
