When I decided to purchase white slipcovers for my living room furniture two years ago, most everyone responded as if I was making a bold move or just wasn’t thinking clearly. Not only do I have young children and a cat who loves her cozy spot on the back of our sofas…they also know how clumsy I am. I’m going to tell you all about these fabulous Sure Fit slipcovers and why they have been perfect for a quick and inexpensive update, how easy they are to clean, and how they look after two years.
First, I’ll take a look back at the hunter green sofas and chair that are still hidden away underneath the slipcovers. I was just so tired of the color and found it to be very limiting when it came to decorating the room. I wanted a change but new furniture was not in our budget at all.
So much green…
We have had this furniture for twelve years and it’s still in great shape, it just has a new look now. After two years, these slip covers still look nice and bright and are so easy to clean and maintain. Believe me, we have really put them to the test with spills, horseplay, couch potatoing, and the cat shedding her hair everywhere. Not only would I highly recommend them to anyone who wanted an inexpensive update but I would buy them again if they needed replacing…but they don’t. I have been very pleased with how well they have held up to washing, drying, steaming, and vacuuming. Even when they don’t have visible dirt or stains, it’s nice to be able to remove the slipcovers just to wash and freshen up the furniture.
They are very easy to place back on to the furniture and do take a little work to get the wrinkles out. I just use a hand held compact steamer once the slipcovers are placed back on the furniture.
Instant update! This photo here is the most recent, just after washing and steaming. They still look great!
The steamer I use is the Rowenta Pro Compact Garment Steamer which is very easy to operate…
I have done more updates to my living room which will be featured soon (and I do have curtains now), whenever I finally decide how to decorate the walls. I am getting there slowly. It’s all about finding the right pieces before nailing a bunch of holes in the wall. Here is the photo I took when I had just added the slipcovers.
So, my review and experience with the Sure fit two-piece slipcovers are great! I will offer advice though, and that is to carefully measure before you purchase them. Our furniture is a bit larger than average and on the back of our loveseat the bottom of the slipcover doesn’t reach the floor (maybe by an inch or two). It’s the only one I notice though because it’s the only furniture piece that isn’t against a wall. I can easily pin it on there if I want, but it’s always good to make sure it will be the right fit.
I purchased the sofa and loveseat covers at Target and the chair cover at Bed Bath & Beyond online. You can also find them on Amazon or on the Sure fit website. The Sure fit website is a great place to start so you can get ideas for the color and style you want. Here are a few other slipcovers I really like on their website. If you are too worried about having a white slipcover, there are plenty of nice colorful slipcovers to choose from! Click on the photo links for more details:
Aren’t those stylish? I especially like the navy blue slipcover. If you can’t afford new furniture but want a new look, I definitely recommend Sure fit slipcovers! There are a lot of styles to choose from and adding a few throw pillows will give you more color and complete the look!
Oh, and by the way, the white ones I purchased are on sale at www.surefit.net!
