During my recent story about the Fall Foliage Festival here in Waynesboro, I gave my readers a sneak-peek of a new and exciting product that is handmade and very functional. I’m giving you all the details today, along with a tour of this adorable shop where it all started.
Mariah Clark, owner of Stitch Amour, has created an inviting atmosphere with the look of her store and her friendly personality. There is so much to love about Stitch Amour. It appeals to crafters, both beginning and advanced, offers quality product made by local artisans, and hosts a number of knitting and sewing classes. As someone who loves interior design and restoring old homes and buildings, I am so pleased to see this place revitalized, and Mariah has done a beautiful job with updates while keeping so much of the character.
I have such an appreciation for Stitch Amour and other local businesses who are coming back strong again after many years of empty buildings in our historic downtown. Several shop owners have created a unique look in each of their shops and Stitch Amour certainly stands out. I absolutely love the look of elegance and simplicity outside and walking into a world of color on the inside.
Doesn’t she have a beautiful shop? I don’t knit, but I do enjoy looking at all the different yarns, some of which are hand-painted, locally.
I mentioned I didn’t knit (tried once, but wasn’t so good), but I should mention again that Mariah offers both knitting and sewing classes at Stitch Amour. I participated in her sewing class before and had a great time…I’m sure her knitting class is just as much fun!
Mariah is so knowledgable about her craft, but is also a great listener when it comes to the needs of her customers. This is the very reason she was able to create this unique handmade product, the Laurie Lane Duo knitting bag. I was so impressed with this bag as soon as she began showing me how it functioned a few weeks ago at the art show.
The Laurie Lane Duo knitting bag was created with the needs of the knitter in mind. There are several functions of this bag that are so unique, starting with the quality. It is handmade here in the U.S. with domestic and imported materials, including an upholstery fabric which gives it a strong exterior, allowing the bag to stand on it’s own without falling over. Another great feature is that the bag is made with with a spring frame with hinges at the top so it can stay open or closed without clasps or zippers. This allows easy access to your project without the yarn getting caught in a zipper.
But, what about the inside? More convenience and function! This bag is perfect for the knitter on the go, with plenty of room for small to medium size projects. It has two slings to securely hold yarn, holds two sets of double point needles at the top, and a place in the center to neatly store your project so you can easily pick it up again when you’re ready.
It’s perfect for taking your projects with you wherever you go! I can’t say enough about the quality of this fashionable knitting bag.
Hopefully, the Duo knitting bag will soon be available for purchase depending on the success of Mariah’s Kickstarter campaign. With enough people backing the project, she will be able to have them available for purchase on her website. The good news is, that Mariah is well on her way to reaching her goal already in the Kickstarter campaign, and the better news is, that she has some available for pre-order in the campaign (estimated delivery, April 2017), that will only be charged to you if the campaign is a success and she is able to take off with the Duo line!

I wish Mariah success on her Laurie Lane Duo knitting bag! I hope it is just as successful as her shop has been here in Waynesboro.
It’s so nice to see her shop continuing to do well in our downtown area. I have so many memories as a child, coming down here to shop on the weekends. A once busy and bustling place, our downtown was the center of everything in town before so many big box stores came. It’s wonderful to see the buildings come to life again with beauty and business, and Stitch Amour has been the perfect addition, giving us a sense of community and allowing for personal growth in knitting and sewing. Not something you will find in an aisle inside a store that sells crafts along with groceries and automotive parts. Mariah has so much knowledge and makes it easy to seek advice and create an environment for encouragement and visual learning with the classes she offers.
And, it’s hard to find such a fun and unique storefront window as the one at Stitch Amour. So adorable!
It was just as neat seeing it from inside the shop…
Stitch Amour has a great selection of patterns and accessories that encourage you to get started on your next project!
If you live nearby or are just passing through, I would encourage you to stop by Stitch Amour for a visit and see what it’s all about! If you aren’t close by and would like to shop for patterns , yarns, and accessories, please visit Stitch Amour’s website.
Don’t forget to visit the Kickstarter campaign and help make the Laurie Lane Duo bag a reality for Mariah and so many knitters who would enjoy it!
Thank you, Mariah, for introducing this exciting new project and allowing me to come take a tour of Stitch Amour so my readers could learn more about your shop!
