I am not the most crafty person in the world. I can transform a piece of furniture by sanding, painting, adding new hardware, etc. But with crafting, I need a lot of help with ideas. For me it’s like looking at this beautiful shirt hanging on the department store rack that I know will be just perfect. Then I go to try it on…and back to the rack it goes. That’s crafting for me. I can see all the beautiful things to piece it together, but I can’t tell you how many crafting fails I have had before.
Thankfully, I have things like Pinterest and Instagram to give me some ideas. Michaels Craft Stores make things a lot easier too. I am like a kid in a candy store when I walk in there… and they have so many ideas throughout the store that they already have put together.
Now that I have completed the mantel around our fireplace, I was so excited to decorate it for Christmas this year. I found these beautiful floral and accent pieces last year at Michaels, along with these shiny reindeer at Big Lot’s. I also bought some beautiful snowflake stocking hangers at Michael’s as well, but I couldn’t find any stockings I really cared for. So, no stockings this time around. Maybe next year…
I also found some beautiful ornament’s for the tree. The first night we had our tree up, it came crashing down. Have you ever had one of those odd shaped trees that no matter how much you adjust it, it still looks like the Leaning Tower of Pisa? That’s our tree this year. I’m so thankful for shatterproof ornaments!
After the crash…
Back together now, thanks to my little helper!
She also put our Christmas centerpiece together. Seven years old, and she is already doing these projects…I think she did great!
This centerpiece is so easy to put together. Just add some small silver vase fillers to the mason jars and set the votive candles with glass holders on the inside. Decorate with some shatterproof Christmas ornaments and decorative pine cones around the mason jars…so pretty and easy!
And I had some things left over to decorate the top of our chalkboard that we decorated for Christmas.
Thanks again to Michael’s Craft Stores for helping this not-so-crafty person decorate for Christmas this year!
