Now that our front door has such a pretty color, I have been searching for a wreath that will stand out with bright fall colors. To be honest, I am not much of a crafter. That is why I search the world of Pinterest and follow my craft bloggers to get ideas for simple projects. Not only did I want to keep it simple, I wanted something I could easily change for the seasons. So, if I can decorate this wreath, all you not-so-crafty folks like me can do this as well! And thanks to all the crafty bloggers out there…keep the projects coming.
I started out looking for materials at Michaels and found a foam wreath and a few rolls of jute twine. I already had some clip-on flowers left over from another project but decided to pick up a few smaller fall flower bundles and a pretty sheer ribbon while I was there.
A lot of wreath projects are done with a glue gun but I decided to try it without using one, tying the twine instead.
I just started wrapping it around! This part does take some time, making sure I didn’t overlap the twine.
Once I ran out of twine I just tied on the beginning of the other roll and started wrapping it over the end pieces.
I wrapped it tight enough for it to stay together but not too tight so that I could still add the decorations. You can see the clips on the back of the flowers. These flower clips make it so easy to decorate a wreath!
Once I hung the wreath, I thought it could really use the ribbon I purchased. I still wanted to keep it simple though…something that I could easily remove and not have a big fancy bow. Here’s how I placed the bow.
I started with a small hoop at the top and brought the loose ends through.
Then tied a small bow at the top…
The hoop on the ribbon pulled through and hung onto the wreath hanger. Super simple!
I added a few of the smaller flowers to the end of the larger ones. Since they didn’t have clips, I just cut the stems off close to the flowers and stuck them right in between the twine and into the foam wreath.
Such a simple wreath and I love how it stands out against the door color. Now I can easily change the decorations when it’s time to decorate for the Christmas season!
