Front door floral basket using various flowers from the Dollar Tree
I decided to try something a little different than the usual wreath for my spring decor this season. Have you seen all the ‘wreath alternatives’ on Pinterest, and all the fun ways people are decorating their front doors other than using the traditional wreath? I happened to have this cute little basket that belonged to Keith’s Granny that has been tucked away in the closet all the years we have been married and I finally found the perfect way to use it for decorating the front door!
The best part of this project? I only spent $12 on the pretty flowers at the Dollar Tree! I don’t usually make such a quick decision when spending money on a project, but I did this weekend when I stopped in there to pick up some flowers for our basket. When everything is a dollar and you have an idea like this, it makes it easier to make a last-minute spending decision.
They had so many bright and colorful flowers to choose from! I decided to go with peach color flowers and of course some silk hydrangeas, since they’re my favorite! I grabbed 2-3 stems of each type of flower I wanted to include in the basket. I guess 12 stems would seem like a lot but I wanted to make sure the basket would be filled. Besides…it was just $12, plus tax. 🙂
The handle on the back of Granny’s basket was a little hard to keep secure on the door hook and the basket was too high on the door. I took some white ribbon I had from another project to add a little more length to the entire piece, and it was easy to just tie a bow at the top to hang on the hook.
I really don’t have a lot of experience with floral crafts but this was easy to arrange and I’m so happy with how it turned out. I love that Granny’s basket is getting some use now and looks so pretty with these colorful flowers on our front door.
Taking pictures of our flower basket made me realize it’s probably time to refresh the paint on our front door. I painted it this pretty turquoise color a few years ago and have been so happy with it. Another spring project for the front porch, I guess!
Do you have front door decorations other than the traditional wreath? I’d love to see them! Feel free to share your link below and share the inspiration!
Thank you, Dollar Tree for a beautiful and inexpensive craft for our front door!
