I have very exciting news…we have a nephew on the way! My brother and his wife are expecting their little guy in February and my niece is looking forward to having a baby brother. I can’t wait to meet this sweet little man, but while we wait for his arrival, I know his Mommy and Daddy are busy making plans. I am thrilled my sister-in-law, Suzie, let me put together a design board filled with decorative ideas for the nursery and it was fun getting her ideas along the way. My brother, Charlie is in the Army and has been away on an assignment, but will be returning soon and I can’t wait to find out what he thinks of the ideas we came up with!

It’s been quite a while since I have planned for a baby, so I just loved looking around for ideas and seeing the latest styles. If you follow my blog, you might already know how much I love mint green and I especially like it along with navy blue. I started by searching for those colors first but then ran across the woodland theme nursery decor and I LOVE it! Suzie likes it too, and since she started with the idea of having owls, I thought the fox and the raccoon pieces I found to add to the design board were adorable as well.
Suzie and Charlie can easily add to this collection with other colors and patterns. The orange wood tones in the art prints show me that orange accents would look great in this collection as well. Aren’t those art prints adorable? You can’t go wrong with an animal themed nursery, in my opinion. The wood tones in the art prints would look great with the wood geometric lamp base nearby.
Not only do I think the colors and textures will be pleasing to the baby , I think some of these pieces will provide a comfortable space for sleep and play. I just had to add the little teepee tent, the storage bin, and the tree bookcase! I loved having decorative pieces for toys and books like that when ours were little. They provide an easy place to quickly clean up the clutter and make it fun for the little one’s during playtime. I hope Mom and Dad will enjoy a rocker like this one in the middle of the night when they are up with the baby…and isn’t that pillow cover adorable? Maybe Aunt Karla will make the nine hour trip to see little man and give his parents some rest. I don’t know, I’m so out of practice though and even slept through a tornado once…so I may not wake up (insert half frowny-face emoji, here). Haha…okay, I’m kidding. My brother knows how hard it is to wake me up though, and his disciplined life in the Army makes us complete opposites in that way.
Honestly, the curtains were a little higher than I would usually spend, but I was sold on the navy tassel trim! More texture and a hint of color with the white panels standing out against the paint color and it picks up the navy blue and white colors in the rug. It was perfect that Target had these curtains displayed against the gray wall color here, because I can envision the pieces in this design board looking perfect with a similar wall color! The mobile with the colorful hexagons were pictured against another similar paint color and really stand out. I thought the mobile was a fun addition!
I’m sure whatever Suzie and Charlie decide to do with their little boy’s nursery will look great! This definitely gives them a starting point and plenty of ideas. That’s why I love creating design boards, because it makes it so much easier to see everything all in one place before making a decision. I love the look of the navy, mint, and gray woodland nursery decor, but it won’t be complete until my sweet little nephew arrives!
