Earlier this month, I accepted the Pinterest Room Challenge hosted by the Toolbox Divas blog. This month, the featured room is the bedroom. This motivated me to get to work on our master bedroom since it has been put on the back burner for a while. I have been wanting to paint and update the decor in our bedroom…making it a more updated, peaceful space with less clutter.
I’ve decided to share my ideas and the things I have my eye on for this project. First, I want to paint! I still have an entire gallon of paint left over from my living room project, which was painted with Benjamin Moore’s Cape Hatteras Sand. I love this color and feel it would be perfect in our bedroom along with the gray and blue bedding set we have. I’m thinking of adding some more accent colors as well…including red!
When it comes to updating the decor, I would like to have small reminders of our memories over the years. Some things will be replaced (such as framing), but other pieces will come out from the dark cabinets and totes where they have been stored away. I have so many pictures and pieces I have wanted to display for so long…it’s time to change that.
For inspiration, what better way to find it than on Pinterest, and one of my favorite stores…Michaels! I went straight to the source on Michaels Pinterest page. I found a lot of pins where I can get many ideas for my projects.
The numbered bottles gave me an idea for this champagne bottle. My husband bought this champagne bottle when we celebrated our first New Year’s Eve together. I’ve never had a better answer than that as to why I held on to it…although I think it’s a good one. I’m hoping I’ll have an even better one once I add a few similar touches to it.
Since the window on the side of the house in our bedroom isn’t centered, I thought I could fill in the negative spaces above each nightstand with a small wall collage. I found this pin to be a great place to start since it shows a smaller space for hanging frames.
I Love the Heidi Swapp™ DIY Marquee Love® Letter Kits! I’m sure I can find something creative to do with one…or a few. I really like the ampersand shape marquee.
Monograms always personalize the decor, and this pin shows the monogram framed. Possibly another idea for the wall collage?
Here are some other things I found on michaels.com that I think would add to the decor in our bedroom.
As you can see, I didn’t waste any time….
I’m excited to get things started and hope to see a whole new space, really soon!
