I left my small town last week for a trip to the Southern Women’s Show in Richmond, Virginia! I had a wonderful time at the show on Saturday and got the opportunity to attend their blogger preview night on Thursday, the evening before the show opened to the public. There were so many vendors at the show and several of them graciously gave samples of their products which were inside our shopping bags when we arrived to the preview. I enjoyed so many of them and I’m excited to share them with you today, along with a giveaway for some honey Habanero Sauce from Po River Apiary! The entry for the giveaway is at the end of this post, so don’t forget to enter to win this delicious sauce made right here in Virginia!
The Southern Women’s Show takes place each year in several southern cities, including Richmond. I attended the show a few years ago and had a great time, so when they invited me to come for the blogger preview night and attend the show, I didn’t hesitate to say yes! The show is an hour and half away from where I live but it was worth the trip . I have been to Richmond before for a blogger meet up at the Hippodrome to benefit a local non-profit and I can tell you that The folks in Richmond are so welcoming and supportive of bloggers, so I knew the Southern Women’s Show would be a wonderful opportunity as well.
During the blogger preview night, I got to see several sneak-peeks of products that would be available for sale during the show. Two in particular were the Turkish towels from Let’s Talk Towels and the Dior makeup eye lift presentation. It wasn’t long after their presentation that these wonderful folks from Dior had me sitting in their chair, removing my makeup, and giving me a makeover with their skincare line and makeup. This makeover was quite the treat, especially for this girl who gets her hands and face dirty from DIY projects all the time. I’m a t-shirt and jeans kind of person so having a complete makeover from Dior was a wonderful experience!
When I came back Saturday for the show, it was packed! So many vendors from beauty, to fashion, home decor, and health…the list goes on. Keith’s mom and sister went along with me and we got to see so many neat things, especially products that were made or sold by local people and businesses. Keith’s sister Carole had seen my Instagram post featuring the Turkish towels from Let’s Talk Towels and she knew before we got to the show that she wanted one. We spent quite a bit of time at that booth all trying to decide which color we wanted to go with. They have towels, blankets, and robes, and so many colors to choose from. They are made with such a neat fabric that isn’t too heavy and washes well and dries quickly. I went with one of the towels because you can use it as a beach towel, a throw, or as a scarf or shawl to accessorize your outfit. I went with the green and navy striped towel because I loved those colors. Carole got one in that same color and she said it looked perfect with her green pants she has. I should have told her to send me a picture…I am sure it looked so pretty because she always looks so nice and has great style!
Here’s my Turkish towel along with the R-Home Magazine from Richmond Magazine….oh, and some cheap sunglasses. Can you tell I’m excited for the warm weather?
As we walked around the show we heard all this cheering over by the runway stage. So, this actor from the show Pretty Little Liars was there and so many ladies in the crowd were going wild. His name is Keegan Allen and I’m sorry to say I had no idea who he was…I don’t even watch cable TV really. My fellow blogger friend and personal style blogger Shanna, of meandminnie.com, was waiting in line to meet him when I got there. She’s a fashion blogger who is a fellow thrift store shopper like me, except she does it with clothing like I do with furniture. She’s another one with great style who inspires me and has so many fashionable ideas for outfits and accessories. She even had her picture with Keegan Allen featured on the Southern Women’s Show Instagram! Sure, there’s a famous actor there on the left BUT…don’t you just LOVE her blazer?! She looks fabulous!
One area of the show I always enjoy are the food vendors because you get to sample so many delicious foods and see cookware demonstrations while they prepare wonderful dishes. There were several live cooking shows happening everywhere! One area I really wanted to try was the Virginia’s Finest foods since they are all grown and made right here in my home state…I’m always about supporting local businesses! Of course I went by the Po River Apiary booth and sampled their Honey Habanero Sauce…OH MY GOSH!! So good! I had a small jar in my bag from the blogger preview night and thought “I’ll save that for a special occasion.” …didn’t happen, folks. I opened my jar this week and enjoyed the sauce over goat cheese and crackers. It was the perfect appetizer for my family to enjoy and everyone loved it! I managed to snap a few pictures before we ate them.
Thanks again to the Southern Women’s Show for inviting me to the show and the blogger preview night! It was such a fun event to attend and I plan on taking the trip to see the 2018 show!
