Recently, I connected with another blogger who has motivated me to get going on ideas and projects that have been put off for too long. Tamisha, at The Toolbox Divas, has started the Pinterest Room Challenge, inviting others to get started on those ideas that we have “pinned” away and never started. Tamisha…I accept your challenge!
The goal of the Pinterest challenge is centered around one room each month. This month (January), the challenge is centered around the bedroom. This got me thinking about our bedroom and how long it has been since I have updated anything. Well, I haven’t had my bedding very long, which was purchased after a log awaited sale at Bed Bath and Beyond. However, there are plenty of things that could be updated in our unromantic, catch-all of a space. And, our bedroom is the last to be cleaned…if I get around to it. I have the kids rooms decorated all nice, but it’s time to put some time and work into ours.
Okay, maybe it’s not THAT bad…right? Honestly, it could use a better color on the walls, but I don’t know that I will get around to it this month. I would like to find different curtain rods as well. I do have quite a few other ideas though to update the space and remove the clutter.
I’ll start with the dressers, which tend to collect a lot of stuff. I love having family pictures sitting around but would like to put them in more modern frames and get a few other accent pieces for added decoration. Right now, it just looks like stuff is sitting around on it…well, because it is.
And, hello…the 90’s called…
I got this box when I was a teenager, and it just collects stuff I never even use anymore. And this glass candle holder? Whats left of it is stuck to the bottom and it’s crying to be cleaned. I have some old candle holders around here that I could update with a little paint, or even just buy a new candle and clean this one…there’s an idea!
I definitely want to update the frames for these pictures on our chest of drawers…
Another project I have been thinking about is painting this frame around this print that belonged to my Grandmother. I love this well-known Van Gogh painting, but the frame…need I say more? I am thinking of painting it, but if it doesn’t turn out quite like I planned, I might get a new one.
Buying pillows to fit the shams would be a good idea too.
And here is the matching chair to the one that is sitting by my fireplace now. I said I wanted it in our room for a nice reading space. Obviously, I need to find a better spot for my pajamas and reclaim my reading chair!
So, there it is. I think a few trips to places like HomeGoods and Target will help tremendously. I’m excited to see what will happen with our bedroom…and much thanks to Tamisha for the motivation!
